A mid-term check meeting for the "Development and Application of High-Efficiency, Low-Loss and Special Purpose Silicon Steel" project, a 2016 project under the National Key Research and Development Program "Key Basic Materials Technology Improvement and Industrialization", was recently held in Beijing. The meeting was organized by the Department of High Technology Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and attended by experts from the project's expert group, peer experts, management experts, and key members of the project team.
A mid-term check meeting for the "Development and Application of High-Efficiency, Low-Loss, and Special-Purpose Silicon Steel" project, a key project under the National Key Research and Development Program "Key Basic Materials Technology Improvement and Industrialization" launched in 2016, was recently held in Beijing.
The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology's High-Tech Research and Development Center. Attendees included experts from the project's overall expert group, peer experts, management experts, and project team members. Relevant personnel from the High-Tech Center's "Key Basic Materials Technology Improvement and Industrialization" key project management office (hereinafter referred to as the "Project Office") also attended the meeting.
At the meeting, the head of the Project Office introduced the basis, purpose, and process of the inspection. The expert group listened to the project leader's report on the mid-term implementation, including the overall progress, personnel and funding input, supporting conditions, and organizational management of the project. The expert group concluded that the project is progressing as planned, has completed its mid-term research tasks, and has achieved its expected goals and assessment indicators. They also provided clear opinions and constructive suggestions.
The project successfully developed new ultra-low iron loss grain-oriented silicon steel products in four main application thicknesses: 0.18, 0.20, 0.23, and 0.27 mm. Among them, the 0.18 and 0.20 mm, 065 grade products are the world's first ultra-low iron loss grain-oriented silicon steel products. Their losses are 10% lower than the highest international grade products, and their no-load losses are more than 30% lower than the current China's Level 1 energy efficiency standard. The 0.23 mm, 075 grade product has been successfully used in the development of the world's highest voltage DC converter transformer, with no-load losses 1.8% lower than those of similarly sized transformers using existing grain-oriented silicon steel.
